Panaque sp. - L191 Royal Pleco 8-12 cm

Description

Panaque sp. - L191 Royal Pleco - Wild

Habitat: The natural habitat is among fallen trees and tangles of wood.

Maximum Standard Length 50cm

Aquarium size: for an adult specimen, you will need a large aquarium of 200 x 80 x 70 cm

Maintenance: A large rock or, preferably, a wooden hiding place is required; plants are not necessary.

Water conditions:

Temperature: 24 – 29 °C

pH: 6.5 - 7.5

Hardness: 36 – 215 ppm

Diet: All Panaques seem to feed on wood, so wood must be present in the aquarium. They eat algae wafers and fresh vegetables (courgette, cucumber, peas, green beans) and tubers (potato, yam and similar).

Behaviour and compatibility:

Generally peaceful, but they may defend their territory against members of the same species. Can be kept with most community fish and, being a very reserved fish, you may want to keep it with more active fish. Larger specimens can be kept with almost all other fish, except the fiercest and most aggressive ones. Smaller specimens should not be kept with large predators, for obvious reasons.
