Baryancistrus xanthellus L081 - Pepita de Ouro - 20-22 cm
Description
Baryancistrus xanthellus L081 - Golden Nugget - 20-22 cm
Baryancistrus xanthellus L081 - It is fascinating and one of the most beautiful and sought-after plecos among aquarists, thanks to its unique colouring and intriguing behaviour. This fish requires well-oxygenated water, high temperatures and an environment rich in hiding places. It is a fascinating choice for well-structured aquariums.
If you are looking for an ornamental fish of exceptional beauty, the Golden Nugget Pleco is undoubtedly one of the best options!
Origin: Rio Xingu - Pará - Brazil
Diet: These fish are grazers, but not in the sense that they eat only vegetation. In fact, they sift and chew the film of organic matter on hard surfaces in search of foods with more protein. In nature, this would consist mainly of algae and plant matter, but with a variety of foods, from small insect larvae and crustaceans to the eggs of other animals. With this in mind, a largely vegetarian diet, cucumber and courgette, zucchini and spinach appear on the accepted menu, with treats of frozen foods, such as bloodworms and black mosquito larvae, together with frozen shrimp. Algae and plants are avoided. The accepted size of the food pieces changes with age in all of these fish. The best results are obtained by offering these foods as a paste. The very long intestine of these fish indicates a biology adapted to breaking down foods with a high vegetable content. It is important to offer vegetable-rich foods, such as spirulina. Crustaceans and insect larvae, such as brine shrimp and mosquito larvae, are also recommended.
FURNISHINGS: Bogwood and rock caves. Plants are up to you, but they will not be bothered by the fish. Creating hiding places with rocks and submerged logs will help reduce possible stress and aggression among the males.
Suitable water parameters:
pH 6.4 - 7.6
Temperature 26,0-30.0°C
Compatibility: Territorial among males of the same species, but peaceful with other species.
Adult size: 24 cm
